Stillness by Sylvia_the_Wanton_Poet (critique requested)

The trees bow down
as the ice king dons his crown.
The morning dew submits to wint'ry will.

The world is bathed in white,
and birds no more take flight.

Thaw away your fears,
Welcome to the wasted years,
And no more the ground may till.

The world welcomes the night,
Spring has lost the fight.

Snow comes down without a care,
the King invites you to his fair,
Where all the world lay still.

Stillness (critique requested)

Sylvia_the_Wanton_Poet

One of several poems I wrote one day upon waking up and school being closed due to snow. In March. In the deep south.
I might post a few more up, I might go back to lurking. Dunno yet. Free verse, but has some structure to it, because I like rhyme schemes and such.

Haven't written a poem I've deemed decent enough for uploading anywhere in a few years, so kinda nervous about this and the next few.
