Day 29

Once the ship FINALLY landed on its first stop, Fortuna, Fox had to get off the ship while he could to move around some. Once the ship had landed and the tourists began looking around the various military bases that were considered “declassified”. Just thinking about that made Fox feel old.

After some wandering he ran into Bill Grey, a long-time friend of his, still active on duty. “Bill!” Fox called out. Bill turned around, “Fox? Hey, what brings you here!? I thought you were retired!” Fox replied “I thought you retired by now. What keeps you here?”

“Duty calls man,” Bill replies, “Duty calls.” Bill then got a look at Fox’s uniform closer, inquiring with a change in his voice “I may have been ignorin’ the obvious, but you’re part of the Lylat Cruiser?” Fox replied somewhat confused “I’m the captain of it. Why?”

As the two began to walk around the base to something Bill seemed to want to show, Bill started by saying “You know that Blubberbutt captain that hired you right? He used to be a higher up at one of these bases before becoming a cruise ship captain…”

Bill pointed to a picture of the captain Fox was shocked to see, stammering “W-what!? I thought he was always like that…?”

Bill shot back with a hint of sass, explaining “Well they don’t call that ship the S.S. Obesity for nothing. Even the most strong-willed of captains can gain lots of weight due to long periods of sitting on their expanding asses doing nothin. Being a cruise ship captain is a far cry from the Great Fox. It’ll get to you before long. Your predecessor even would sometimes tell me at the bases here in Fortuna or anywhere else I saw him there was no real escape and he was hoping to get someone who was already a fatass to replace him.”

Fox replied with much dismay “You don’t REALLY think I’ll end up like that, do you? You know me better than that Bill.” His only reply was “Why don’t you ask yourself? I’m fairly certain you’ll just deny it in front of anyone else…anyway, enjoy your mobility while ya can. Who knows what’ll happen if we meet elsewhere.”

While Fox did NOT appreciate Bill’s attitude on this matter, he also did not DARE to mention his uniform INDEED felt a bit tight in the midsection. He would suffer in silence long enough to get away from Bill and hopefully lose some weight before he got back home…certainly it WOULD be easy, right?
