Anthro ref sheet for my Lunacorn char (my unicorn/moth hybrid moon spirit fae), as inked and colored by the amazingly talented and kind Shadowwolf (the sketch for it was done by me)...Once again, Shaddie blew me away and made Luna absolutely beautiful, graceful, dainty and elegant, just as I imagine her to be. I sooo love how this came out!!! <3<3<3 (Shaddie drew Luna's quad/feral ref as well.) My dream is to have this eventually made into a partial fursuit by the incredible Qarrezel, complete with a working jaw and animatronic ears. :) You can see a hi-res version of this image here: http://swandog.deviantart.com/art/Lunacorn-Anthro-Ref-Collab-310569404
So far, the horn is done (made by Indigo-Ocean: http://indigo-ocean.deviantart.com/art/Lunacorn-Horn-284260248), the animatronic wings and the servo rig that controls them are done (made by Magpiebones/Artsquish and Skaros444: http://artsquish.deviantart.com/art/Lunacorn-Wings-340742615), the leather corset for the wings and the matching collar will be started soon by Azmal of DA, and the moonflower dress will be started soon by MorganCrone of DA. The corset/collar/dress concept you can see a WIP of here (still need to draw the back view of the dress): http://swandog.deviantart.com/art/Lunacorn-Moonflower-Dress-and-Corset-WIP-284496837 :) I think it will be awesome when all said and done, but wish me luck! XD
Please note: Luna's wings are a hybrid of Rosy Moon Moth (Actias Rhodopneuma): http://swandogstudio.com/Lunacorn/pinkmoonmoths.jpg (top left-hand corner) and Indian Moon Moth (Actias Selene): http://swandogstudio.com/Lunacorn/selenecollage.jpg. All moon/luna moths are closely related and readily hybridize IRL, and you can see a beautiful example of a hybrid in the first link (bottom left-hand corner). :) Also, her eyespots (ocelli) are meant to look like albino eyes, but they are just markings, not actual, seeing eyes (as Tetramorphs are said to have on their wings: http://www.eaudrey.com/myth/tetramorph.htm; I love the idea of that, but I think having fully-realistic eyespots on Luna's wings might just freak people out, lol).
Also, folks have wondered why Luna only has wings in anthro form...I just felt her feral form would be too bulky for flight, and that the wings would look too "cluttered" on her. Futhermore, she can't have wings all the time, because they would quickly get tattered and worn. (Luna moths only live for around a week, and their wings are totally tattered by the end of that, but Lunacorn lives the typical life span of a unicorn.) So instead of wings in her feral form, she has the pale green crescent moon markings on her withers. Her wings quickly grow from those markings whenever she shifts into anthro form during the full moon (starting the day before it's completely full, and ending the day after). She then sheds her wings again when she shifts back into feral form, the form she is in most of the time. :)
Eee, thank you!! <333 (And with the gorgeous way you draw anthro unicorns, I've been dying to commission you!) Shadowwolf did the most work here; she utterly blows me away. D: (You can see my original, messy sketch here: http://swandogstudio.com/anthrolunarefsketch.jpg...all the rest was Shadow's doing!)
(Except for the collar; I did that part; she just borrowed it from here: http://swandog.deviantart.com/art/Lunacorn-Moonflower-Dress-and-Corset-WIP-284496837) :D

She is still one of my all-time favorite characters I've seen in the anthro community. Everything about her design is so inspired and a feast for the eyes. When you finally get all of those elements together for her costume I wager its going to be stunning.
I apologize if I sound like I'm gushing a little, I just think you and Shadowwolf did such a great job with her. That's always been one of the main things I've loved about the fantasy and furry art communities: the character and creature design.
