Time Stand Still

Swandog

Had a lot of fun arranging this shot, lol...Looks like a page from one of those "I Spy" books! :D I just went around the house and gathered up everything that looked vaguely steampunk or old, dumped it all on the kitchen table, then sorted it out a bit, put the necklaces into that open box, threw some watch parts into the mix, and had my hubby take pics. :)

We had bought a pair of gear cufflinks: http://www.tateossian.com/Mens/Cufflinks/Rhodium\_plated/Gear\_Cufflinks as a gift for our son (Gamigeek on DA) and his girlfriend for their birthdays (they are both very much into steampunk, so I knew they would like these). I then took the cufflinks to the local jeweler and had them saw off the whaletail backings, then brush and polish the backs of the cufflinks, and make them both into matching pendants.

My son had a lot of watch parts and gears (as you can see scattered around in the background), and I had the jeweler add some of those watch parts into the chains, to make them better compliment the pendants. So now we have "two-of-a-kind" steampunk necklaces, and I doubt any others like these exist (yet, lol). I think they came out awesome! :D It's a pity that there was a lot of glare on the pendants in the photo, but you can see the cufflinks better on the website I linked to.

Anyways, it was a fun shot, so I decided to post it. :) The title comes from my fave Rush song (which is very relevant to this image, since kids grow up way too fast, and you just want to hold onto the moment, before it's gone forever..."the innocence slips away"). Please give it a listen, if you will: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGsQ5n9Qu0A <3

Gosh I love the song you named this after! I've seen Rush so many times, but they've never done this one live, which makes me sad.

This is a wonderful idea - temporary scrapbooking! And I actually like the glare on the pendants. It gives the picture more life, I think, though that's just coming from someone who never saw the real thing. :)
