Kershaw Goodwill Visit by Svaros

Kershaw Goodwill Visit

Svaros

The curious Kumlarin sailors gathered on their ship as small alien craft sailed into the harbor, the first at Kershaw in Shreshaw to represent the Tolesian Commonwealth. Cameras flashed as photographers documented the momentous occasion, and murmuring sailed up and down the ship. It had a flat spot for its hovering craft in the rear and sat high on the water with its trimaran hull.

To some, it was unimpressive, a small destroyer class vessel at best. The angular, sleek look contrasted heavily with the surviving Shrewshaw Navy's more upright superstructure and four centerline turreted cruisers. It only got worse looking at this small ship's defensive armament to these scoffing sailors. Unlike their vessels, it was not bristling with turrets and just a measly ones sticking out on the front and aft of the superstructure, with the furthest one on the bow housing at most one larger cannon. Were they supposed to be afraid of an empire that fielded that?

Other Shrewshaw sailors, though, were nervous. Obviously, their rocket ships and orbital craft were the more significant threat, but underestimating this ship would be folly. Their tech would outdo all of theirs, their construction looked top-notch, and the chances are that they didn't need much of what they had gunwise due to their superior electronics. If asked, the Tolesians could probably put a shell through a specific porthole in 10-meter waves at 25 kilometers. Plus, who knows that dark sorcery they have. Missiles that can hit at Mach 5? Nuclear shells? It was such a mystery, but one the more curious sailors hoped they could tour at some point during this goodwill visit.

To the Tolesians, though, many of their hearts melted upon seeing the great masses of steel and gun. It was incredible to see these ships floating and maintained for combat rather than some dry berthed museum ship (or worse, a replica) of an era long gone. Many onboard the cutter watched the Shrewshaw ship's guns, checking for any activity taken against them. One hit with those guns would easily do them in despite their primitiveness. When in the den of dragons, it is best to be aware and tread lightly.
