It was between that, or "Stuck at Home: The Fanart" but I liked that one better.
I used to do that kind of thing more often in the past, but stopped for some reason. Trying to pick it back up again, but lighting and shadows are a huge weak point of mine. I really need to figure out how it actually works sometime. Art is hard.
Yeah it is... Most of what I know about lighting and shadows I've just picked up while doing amateur photography. Studying photos helps a lot, or just drawing objects you can set on your desk with lights, or I've even seen a lot of online resources discussing object lighting.
Yeah, the hardest thing is trying to apply realistic-looking shadows to stuff that's not realistic. I mean, obviously, I have a general grasp on it, but there are a lot of inconsistencies, and I can only focus on fixing so many things I'm doing wrong each time without getting overwhelmed and burnt out. Black and white photography is really great for that type of thing, and I do have a modest collection of references. It's just applying that knowledge that's hard lmao.
On the bright side, drawn art is drawn art. It doesn't have to be perfect, and the imperfections can sometimes make it all the more interesting. A great example is when artists sometime have to fudge the anatomy to make it look more better to the eye rather than be accurate.
Yours all looks great, though, and it's only getting better the more you post :)
; u; OMG what a little cutie!
I love how this picture came out Sunes! It all looks so neat and polished, and the coloring is so rich and warm- the hair in particular is very striking!
Oh my gooood, this is so nice. Like, INSANELY NICE. Oh god. The dark gradients/shading is just like... fuck.
Let me give you all these strange vague compliments, because I'm no good at wording. But I love this... how did I miss this?

First of all, just realized the "steak-flavored hams" folder. Yup.
Second, neat drawing. I still really like your soft blended cel shading style.
