Maned Werewolves by SumiInk

Maned Werewolves

SumiInk

Maned Werewolves are one of the few species to have started from a curse. The hex itself is very picky and unstable. People can turn from the ages of ten to mid thirties. Lifespans also vary, from a few centuries to fifty years. The curse could lay dormant, only go halfway, or completely affect the person.

Purebreds, or those fully affected, naturally have red, ginger, or auburn hair. Their snouts, ears, limbs, and/or tail can be tipped. Purebreds can also be Alphas, who run a pack. They won't harm pack members. Alphas also gain control of the situation faster.

Hybrids, or those halfway affected, will have their fur be linked to their hair color (Purebred or not, their fur will dull. as they age.) They're more lean and can stand on two legs with ease.

As the name suggests, these werewolves have manes from their forehead down to the end of their back. They're capable of controlling when they turn into a wolf, but it takes time and effort. Overtime, they will eventually lose control of the curse, and will be in their wolf state most of the time. Despite a possible century long lifespan, they have great memory, being able to remember things in great detail no matter the time gap.
