Infinity Spiral - Fossil Ammonite Necklace by Styx

Infinity Spiral - Fossil Ammonite Necklace

Styx

Between the spiral of the ammonite's shell, the twist of the copper separators, and the depth of blue in the turquoise this necklace reminds me of a Fibonacci sequence (even though the numbering in the pattern has everything to do with aesthetics and nothing to do with mathematics). This piece to me is natural, deep, mysterious, and mathematical all at the same time. Don't ask, I guess I'm kind of odd.

The ammonite fossil has a bit of fire in it, which flashes in bright light. The brown beads were sold to me as some kind of shell, but I admit I was more interested in their color than listening to whatever the vendor was saying to me at the time of purchase. I added a couple of Persia Blue turquoise nuggets with fantastic iron pyrite in them to add a pop of color.

The turquoise is from a mine in Nevada called Persia Blue, Nevada Persian Blue, or just Nevada Blue - not actually from Persia. The mine got it's name from producing material similar to Persian turquoise, and a lot of it is straight blue with no matrix.
