Part of my dog breeds project. The Irish Wolfhound, wielding a sword and bow goes head to head against a wolf of old Ireland. Incidentally, I like the wolf better than the dog in this piece. haha

The Wolfhound is wearing traditional 16th & 17th century Irish common man’s clothing.

I think I started this in ’06 or maybe ’07 and pulled it out to finish after my hard drive crashed. At the time I only expected to be without it for a few days so I was working on things I had never finished as an effort to occupy my time until I had it back.

Paper is warped from being wet using the water soluble graphite.

*I do not support the hunting of wolves in any manner, this piece is to celebrate a breed and depict the breeding doing what it was originally intended to do. I would appreciate people's respect with no comments on the subject of hunting wolves.
