About once a year you hear a horrifying story about someone falling into a narrow hole and getting stuck. Usually they're rescued, but not always alive.

Yet there are worse things that can happen. You might find yourself stuck in such a hole with a fat and greedy badger at the bottom, who digs its way up upward and swallows you an inch at a time. With no room to fight you can only yell for help that never comes. In the end, the only thing that comes back up out of the hole is a burp.

(This is actually the second one of my badgers to figure out how to dig pit traps. The other one baited them with cell phones taken from previous meals. They're learning!)
