The Tail by Starfrit

The Tail

So I'm really into Mermaiding-- that whole schtick where you dress up in a mermaid tail and swim around. I've been a huge fan of it for years, admiring the crazy-detailed realistic silicone tails from people like Merbella Studios, FinFolk Productions, The Mertailor... It was only a year and a half ago that I actually dove into the mercommunity proper, joining the MerNetwork forums and actually learning about what it takes to be a mermaid.

And then I decided to go all-out and get my first very own custom tail. :D

Since the water temps where I live are pretty cold (I prefer outdoor swimming because chlorine is not my friend), plus the fact that I was still perfecting my dolphin-kick, I opted to go with Morticia Mermaid / Siren's Calling for one of their neoprene tails-- They hold heat a lot better (which is great, because I've always had problems with body temp and blood circulation, so the warmer the better in most cases!), plus the added buoyancy provided by the material keeps me from sinking too much. It's super comfy. <3 There've been a lot of times where I've just worn it around my house simply because of how comfy it is!

The colors don't show very well in these pictures, but it's a lot more blue and purple and it's so glittery. <3 And the entire thing was hand-painted! Morticia really put a lot of work into my tail, and even months later I still couldn't be happier with the end result. If you're ever looking for a custom tail, but want something lighter and lower-maintenance than silicone but more durable than spandex or other light fabric, I seriously can't recommend Siren's Calling enough. She's amazing!
