Hawkwater was devastated.
Maybe not that much, but he was very very disappointed. When Sundewstar became leader, he'd been sure he was going to be the deputy. Sundewstar had even mentioned it before
But no.
It was Jayfall.
Why Jayfall?
Jayfall had never been anything special to the Clan, just a loyal warrior. Hawkwater had worked hard all his life, chasing his hopes and dreams, only to have it crushed by a weak warrior.
He couldn't believe it. Hawkwater fought off the urge to snap at Sundewstar, and convince him to make him the deputy. But he couldn't. That would just make his chances smaller and smaller. So he just... Let it go.
