I love beetles like this. We have some cool ones on our property that are shiny and have greenish-teal/yellow backs. The rest of them are blueish black.

Ah, nice. Unfortunately as far as I know we don't get too many large beetles where I am. In case you were wondering, this specimen was in a block of resin. Rhino beetles are wonderful, I'm actually keeping a few larvae of them.

That's cool! Are they fossilized or are you going to hatch them or are they just specimens?

A couple of them have already or are beginning to think of pupating. It's fascinating to watch them grow as larvae into adults. They're underrated pets here in the west, in my opinion.

That's just so cool. I used to keep bugs but my stepmother won't let me keep them in the house. But watching them grow is really cool.

Oh, that's a shame. Insects are wonderful to observe, it's a shame not everyone can see how beautiful or important they are.

I agree. As someone who enjoys the world of nature and wants to be a veterinarian, I can see where you're coming from.

Ah, nice, being a veterinarian would be pretty cool. I'm hoping to go into something to do with scientific illustration myself. But yeah, humanity needs to realise that it is a part of the world it inhabits, not an alien force confronting it. If we would come to realise that, maybe we wouldn't be fucking the biosphere over so much.

Yeah, I know… It's sad to see others like us just polluting the planet and dumping shit in the ocean and stuff like that.
