Like many Zygerrians, Miraj Darai was a slaver. She was royalty with her family having prospered during the Age of the Galactic Empire as the needs of slaves rose to please the Sith Emperor Palpatine. She was also a scientist without equal and thanks to her impressive knowledge, she could improve the capacity, abilities and health of her slaves so they would survive their harsh conditions, as well as please their new masters in any way. Unlike most of her kind, she genuinely cared about their well-being but she still viewed them as inferior, hence why, in her mind, she was helping them to better serve their owners.

Her views on slavery as a necessary mean to use the weak to serve the strong, were torn apart when she was made a slave for a Hutt as "compensation" for the loss of one of her prized slaves during a transport. She endured this life for years before being rescued by the New Republic.
As a slaver, she was put on trial but to her surprise, she was declared not-guilty as many of her former slaves testified for her, telling the jury that what she did to their bodies helped them grow stronger, resist and even rebel against their owners. While it was results she wasn't intend to reach, they still allowed her to walk free in the end while being recognized as a hero against the slavery of the Empire.

Both her time as a slave and the realization she helped fight slavery shocked and transformed her, and she decided to start a new life, becoming a respected scientist for the New Republic, as well as a secret agent sent to help dismantle slavery rings, using her Zygerrian reputation to find and capture slavers.

She had become the anti-thesis of her species and upbringing and she had no regrets about that. Having seen the other side of slavery, she viewed it as the horrible, degrading treatment it was and vowed to help fight it, now genuinely using her medical knowledge to help make the galaxy a better place.

When the new Resistance was founded to combat the First Order, she chose to assist it, knowing a return of an Empire would mean more slavery and her conscience couldn't allow this.

Introducing my Zygerrian OC: Miraj Darai! She's the scientist and medic of the crew of the Eidolon, but don't think she doesn't know how to fight. Carrying her old electro-whip and a sawed-off Zygerrian rifle, she can be a deadly foe in the battlefield, grabbing her enemies with her whip while also shooting at them once close enough.
She also provides enhancements of various kinds to the team, but sometimes, they work a bit too well. Those big "assets" she has? Remnants of an attempt for a formula dedicated to make slaves stronger and more attractive, back when she was in the market.
