oh man, demo's thinking about radishes!

a drawing that accompanied this fannish ramble I wrote:

hey there everyone, I’m gonna gush about Raocow now

he’s like one of my favourite LPers and here’s why:

he’s a super mellow guy with a fun rambly kind of sense of humour and he’s almost never profane (you know that stereotype about Canadians, the worst cuss he could muster most of the time is “tabarnak”), though he can get pretty frustrated at aggravating gameplay mechanics and gimmicks, which I def understand.

I think especially after I watched his LP of A Super Mario Thing, which is a Super Mario World hack, I really grew to like his SMW romhack LPs, even if the game was a bit eh itself, it was fun to see him tackle those challenges. And later I saw he’d play games based off the Super Mario Bros. X engine (Talking Time Bros. comes to mind) and it’s just. fun to see a blend of different Marios and custom graphics and sounds and just aaaa.

I think part of the reason why I enjoy his LPs and Mario type stuff in particular is because I’d used to watch childhood friends play Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3 … I never could tackle those games myself even if I tried (or just grew too frustrated after failure) so I had tons of respect for people who could breeze through them. And they’re also such happy and colourful games, even if some folks have tried to do some pretty subversive nonsense with SMW stuff, haha!

That’s one of the reasons why I enjoy watching LPs. And Raocow just puts a smile on my face and brightens my day.

this Demo is a super great Demo even if it was quickly drawn!

also yes I completely agree with everything you said. Raocow is just so happy and quirky (except when he gets frustrated at some things but those don't happen very often) and I love just listening to him ramble on about the strangest things. Listening to his LPs on my phone is pretty much the only way I can fall asleep nowadays haha~ Not to mention he also has a really interesting art style I enjoy!

Yesss. I do like when it veers into non sequitur territory, but it's also nice when he simply comments on the game, its mechanics, level design and overall stuff that... could be even useful (when you consider making your own game)? But in any case, I just find the flow of SMBX and SMW LPs to be the best and the most consistent throughout seeing as it's familiar territory to him, while I probably would have tremendous trouble with games like those myself, it's interesting.
