Surmelles are small, furry animals, adults ranging from 18-30in in length/height. They are long, looking sort of like squatty ferrets, and have stubby-ish limbs that end in large, meaty paws and hairless digits. They have notably unique jaws with pronounced front incisors and canines. Some surmelles have manes of various sizes, many of which may by styled or colored. Both males and females have a pocket of skin on their belly they use for keeping food and tiny knicknacks. On their backside is a small tuft of a tail. There is very little sexual dimorphism, with females often having a similiar size to males.
The species is highly energetic, playful and mischievious.
Surmelles having a large focus on food and cuisine, often name themselves in young adulthood after various food or food inspired names. Common names are things like Chip, Spud, Rosemary, Jalapeno, etc. Occasionally they choose other names, generally around things that involve their interests.
Surmelles are a cute, mischievous sorta rodenty-mustelid species of my own design. They are inspired by the hybridization of a rat and ferret with all the chaos intact.
