Engel auf dem Tore - Angel at the Gates

I made this around Thanksgiving, yet being totally unrelated to it in any way, but had to for two reasons. One, because I am totally in love with this uniform and two, I wanted to get in another Berlin Wall pic before November ends (I had this set as my Facebook icon since then). I dedicated the entire month of November to the reunification of Germany, especially Berlin for going through a long, hard history, thus ending its greatest hardships in being liberated. And I plan to keep this icon for my Facebook until about mid-December so I can replace it with a holiday-themed one for Christmas.

This wasn't easy to draw, especially the finer details in the background. Miraculously, I managed to make a really good backdrop of Pariser Platz using such limited space. Especially the graffiti on the Berlin Wall, as that was my biggest challenge in deciding what to draw on it. And if I must say, his face looks really beautiful here, as he has somewhat of a puppy-dog look to him. Also, I managed to draw a really excellent hammer-and-sickle emblem on his eyepatch this time, probably the best I've ever done. The background is a bit slanted, for some reason when I drew this... let's just pretend like it's Mishya taking a photo of himself using a camera placed on an uneven surface. ;P
