Backstory: Built shortly before the first omnic crisis, Lucas Briggs joined the Detroit police force. He had excellent aim and maintained his composure well under pressure.
Briggs served on the force for several years, including the first few of the omnic crisis. Many of his missions involved taking out rogue omnics that had been taken over by god programs. On one mission, two labor model omnics had somehow gotten hold of submachine guns (it was illegal for omnics to own projectile weapons in Detroit) and opened fire in a train station. Briggs and his unit stayed outside with their guns trained inward. They got the attackers out of the building peacefully, but they soon opened fire on the police. Briggs took one out before taking a few rounds to his neck, face, and right leg. Seven humans and sixteen omnics were killed by the time the gunman was subdued. There was no evidence suggesting they were controlled by a god program.
By the time their hardware was repaired, Detroit had issued a new law declaring it illegal for omnics to serve on the police force. Briggs and half of his unit were discharged before he could even be relegated to a desk job. He was left with relatively minor but permanent hardware damage, psychological scars, and no purpose.
Years later he saw a story on the news about veterans of the omnic crisis working with horses as a form of physical and psychological therapy. Briggs was sure it wouldn’t be able to help his physical problems, but he’d always liked animals, so it was worth a shot. It took him over a year to find one that would accept omnics, but he eventually found one just outside of Calgary, Alberta called Bolt and Horseshoe Stables. Eager to enjoy life again and to do something productive, he packed his bags and moved to the ranch. He works there to pay his keep and spends most of his free time bonding with the horses. He prefers petting and leading them and isn’t overly interested in riding.
