"Children" Diptych by Sparkyopteryx

"Children" Diptych

Sparkyopteryx

Here they are, the final two pieces that I'll be submitting for the BLFC art show, "Evening's Child" and "Morning's Child." They are actually two separate pieces but since I designed them fully intending to be displayed next to each other, I figure I'd put them here as a diptych.

These are only 5''x7'', which is a size I'm not used to working in. It was great fun working on both of these and let me experiment using my brushpen and working on my ambiance and lighting. Also, I felt there was a huge dearth of gargoyles in my gallery so I had to fix that.

Done with Copic and Prismacolor markers on bristol.

These fit in quite well with some sombre, ambient music I think. The one on the left is still my favorite for how adorable it looks. I love gargoyles.

I was worried I would give more attention to one over the other once details started coming out, since I wanted them to have an equal amount of refinement but I don't think that was the case. I like the look of the right one more, but I prefer the lighting and colors of the leftmost, so I suppose it balanced out hah.

Oh.. I really enjoy looking at the style you drew these gargoyles in, wonderful!

It's kind of astounding the shift in style and feel when I go from a multiliner to a brushpen I noticed. It's got an energetic, almost toony vibe. Thank you kindly!
