An Art Noveau-inspired pin up of my fiance's cute Thu'Marath lizard guy, Vomauro. Title comes from the literal translation of his name, since he is very, very blue. Naturally I couldn't help but ink all of the scales, because apparently there is no such thing as "intricacy shorthand" for me...
Linework like this is so very relaxing. I know a lot of artists regard lines as "unfinished" or "unpolished" but I beg to differ; a good inked-up picture is a feast for the eyes, hence why I never regard detailed line drawings like these sketches, because they aren't. Also even though this might be considered fairly tame for some audiences, I have marked it Moderate because of the markedly cheesecake-esque nature of the piece. Done entirely in black Staedtler pigment liners on 9x12 drawing paper. About 8 to 9 hours of work, all told.
And for those interested, in a few days I'll be opening up commissions for these Art Noveau pin-ups, so if you like what you see here then keep an eye on my journals this coming week!
