A little piece I did some time ago of my night spirit, Selia-Murachadh. This scene is a pivotal part in her backstory, but I don't want to muck up the feelings and perceptions of the viewer; I want everyone to extrapolate their own story from my work.

This was finished in part to prove a point to myself. I can't remember the point though, other than I made myself finish this on none other than copier paper. No artistic self-inflicted torture could be worse than this, except maybe copier paper with Roseart crayons. Trying to make this look good was like stepping on eggshells; it must be done delicately and carefully. It came out surprisingly well for layers of graphite on such thin, toothless paper. The scan predictably is ragged as a result of the poor surface. But you know what? I'm still friggin' happy with it, even if my hand remembers the pain it felt after I rendered all those black feathers...

Done with Prismacolor graphite pencils; lots of layering and lots of time. Pose reference used. Character is mine, and the beings known as "Night Spirits" are the creation of the significant other and in some small part, myself.
