Before cave spelunking...

Sparkyopteryx

The climb wasn't too much of a problem for a seasoned adventurer such as him, and what awaited at the top of that crag was more than worth the minor aches: a natural cave formation sealed off by a locked and barred slab of sandstone. His sources mentioned recent residents that made that retrofitted door, and he was anxious to find out what they were hiding. Stow the rope, take out the lockpicks, get to work...

Last piece for 2013! I don't know if I mentioned it well enough in my last submission, but I love this new scanner. Love it. For once I can honestly say that most of the spots and unwanted vagaries are caused by the paper this time and not the hardware that picked it up; this was done on the very last page of my sketchbook before I break out the new one I got for Christmas. It had tiny spots and speckles that I couldn't get rid of, but I couldn't have a bare piece of paper go to waste either, so I whipped this up instead. The color and everything is fairly true to the original, albeit perhaps a little brighter and more saturated.

I LOVE THIS NEW SCANNER. Anyway. Fairly quick for a fully colored doodle, and I intend to try to start some commissions just like this in the very near future (don't worry, they won't be on dirty paper). Didn't use references or any preplanning, I just wanted to sketch something before 2014 elbowed it's way in. Done entirely in colored ballpoints. 8.5x11. Character belongs to MisterMidnight

I absolutely adore it, he is simply gorgeous looking; There is no other way to put it. I love the design changes to his face and legs, and you did an amazing job on the gear. I really want to work out the Thumarath more as a race, and Vomauro "Lapis" as a character.

Oh, and I love the background giving context to the character as well. Even something small like that helps the picture so much, and the character too.

    Such delicacy.

'Tis why I love ballpoints so much! The amount of details and control one can get with them is surprising....

Isn't he? And blue goes with almost anything, you know.
