Sparkyopteryx

Little known fact: I love tigers.

Another somewhat more well known fact: I love insects.

A much more well known fact: I love puns and word play.

Yes, she is a literal tiger moth. Ain't that a killer!

Yeah I know it's another freaking character design. These two pages here are another on-going product of "Working on side stuff while working on commissions" that was started weeks ago but just now finished. I think I have four or five other pictures that I'm still picking at here and there, heh.

More info about her:

~Her full given tribal name is Ember-Echoes-Brightly.

~Moth characteristics come from a sacred spiritual fusion with one of her tribe's shamanic totems, in this case the Sun Moth totem.

~Eyespots behind her true eyes help to sense specialized light waves and pheromones.

~Ears are a bit longer and more pointed than a normal tiger's.

~Cranium is more or less of exact structure with terrestrial tigers, save that her nasal passages are greatly enlarged for increased oxygen intake, making her forehead and nose bridge flush. Also has two sets of nostrils to allow her to "stagger breathe," and therefore allow even more efficient breathing when flying.

~Has a somewhat hunched appearance due to part of her back and chest housing flight muscles.

~Tail is shorter and much more rigid and inflexible than a terrestrial tiger to aid in counterbalancing her upper torso.

~Still has retractable claws on her hands, inner and outer toes.

~Whiskers replaced with four antennae.

~Is still very much a mammal, she simply lacks breasts now.

~Oh, and she loves jasmine pearl tea.

I have a bunch of other stuff about her that I could write out if I wanted, but I figure this description is getting long enough as it is. I do intend to draw more of her, since she is lovely and I adore how she came out. The page on the left also shows my ongoing love-hate relationship with my Prismacolor pencils; I can wrestle and threaten them to make them work, but alas I just can't like them as much as my Derwents. As always, questions regarding the character are welcomed.

Bizzare but I think the design (as shown on the left of my screen) is very elegant!

I think bizarre is a great way to describe her, considering the two animals that inspired me are not alike at all!
