Sparkyopteryx

A colored full-figure, limited backdrop commission for a client over on FA; he gave me some flexibility with this, and halfway through the design process he remarked that it looked like his character was talking to someone, so I happily obliged and gave him a Bluetooth and iPhone.

I'm becoming more and more pleased with my coloring process with markers and with the final results; I need to get cracking and get some more colors and replacements though.

Done on 9x12 smooth Bristol with Prismacolor markers and a Pilot fineliner. Character belongs to client, and the art is jointly owned by myself and said client.

Aaahhh, your marker skills are lovely! I really like how you shaded the black areas, that's hella hard to do...at least for me, haha.

Oh, why thank you! I found recently (beginning of this year in fact) that the best way to achieve good results with markers is layer the hell out of them, and to be mindful of how wet or dry the ink is, and blend blend blend. The process is slow, although probably not as slow as I am with graphite or colored pencils, heh.

The scanner actually made this look more faded than what it's supposed to look like, so I'm probably going to tweak values and replace the file.
