Nepentha ATC by Sparkyopteryx

Nepentha ATC

Sparkyopteryx

I got five of these lovely little illustration board ATCs to try out the surface, as well as try my hand at making some (this is my first ever ATC or ACEO). This is also more me trying out my watercolor pencils and trying to get more of a feel for 'em, especially with how to work them into normal colored pencil pieces.

This was also an excuse to draw a portrait of my beloved leucrotta character Nepentha Ficusa that I have neglected for three years. She's seriously been one of my favorite characters but up until very recently with the "Enrapture" piece I haven't drawn her seriously since her initial concept sketch. I ditched the badger face for her though because honestly since I'm so gaga for spotted hyenas I wanted to give her a hyenaface. Because hyenafaces.

This scanned kind of icky, unfortunately. But dammit I still love the colors; it was so much fun moving the card around and manipulating the watercolor wash. Despite not having much experience with working in such a small size I really want to do more of these now...

Done with Prismacolor watercolor pencils and Derwent Coloursoft pencils on an illustration board ATC. Character belongs to myself.
