2015 Summary of Art

Sparkyopteryx

It's that time of year ladies and gents! Time for the annual summary of art retrospective, starring my art. Not really in the mood to whip out the huge month-by-month dissertation so I'm just going to summarize what my art year was like in general.

For one, a big highlight of the beginning quarter was doing all of those wonderful trades! I still have one extant to do but being able to talk art with all the awesome creators really pushed me forward, maybe not in as much technical aspects (although that was there as well) but mentally and emotionally especially. I definitely want to make this a regular thing now.

Inktober of last year really helped my confidence and creativity when it came to approaching things with ink, so I went full throttle with that this year and did even more of it and I think the quality of my ink work is really starting to show it. Also if I had a medium that helped define my year I'd say it was marker for 2015. Leaps and bounds were made with my Copics and I'm getting the confidence I needed when it comes to color.

Dynamic poses, characterization and compositions are starting to become more common in my work and I want to step it up and make it a regularity. I don't know if 2016 will be the year I decide to delve deeper into digital (since I have so much fun learning all this traditional stuff instead), so I'll have to play that by ear.

I'd like to get even more worldbuilding art on the table for everyone to see, and I have some cool projects that I'll be able to work on and finish in the first quarter of 2016, so I'm pretty excited! This was one of the best years I've had as an artist and at a personal level so I'm pumped to get into the New Year already.
