      I'm only just beginning myself, but if it helps, the multiply tool on an acryllic Detail pen helped me out in SAI on this. Pick the base color and keep going over the area to get depth, texture, etc.

        Hah, I'm nowhere near that kind of expertise yet. I'm barely able to use the pencil and ink brushes :D
        
        But I'll keep this piece of info in mind :3
