I started reading Iain M Banks' Culture novels a few years back, and I find it funny that the stuff that sticks with me the most ends up being on the sillier and/or inconsequential side. The Xenophobe's fuzzy critter avatar comes to mind. (I think it'd like nose boops, besides cuddles.)
