His work is incredible. It has always felt, to me, that he really knows how to portray horror without relying on the usual go-to aesthetic for spooky stuff. I guess a lot of his imagery evokes a sort of "This is deeply disconcerting and I'm not sure why." It's always felt very genuine, I guess, like the illustration of his own personal phobias and nightmares.
I wasn't going for something quite as horrific here, but I wanted to see if I could use some of his weird textures in something a little more darkly whimsical rather that completely terrifying.
