I finally figured out a ref sheet for my lanky sea derg. My first design for a character!

~Details~
Name: Lantis (of the) Atoll, or just Lantis
Nickname: Lanti
Species: Oceanic Drake
Age: What you would refer to as a young adult. They age slow, so probably a couple of decades.
Family: An older brother sibling as of yet unknown.

Personality: Playful, but slightly lonely at times. He carefully observes the boardwalk from the water to watch the land dwellers curiously. Once he is more comfortable he is quite a cuddly and friendly guy, sometimes forgetting his own size. He absolutely loves showing off his swimming prowess, much like an excited kid.

Lantis speaks in a rather deliberate and paced manner, due to his still small knowledge of "surface dweller" language. Don't let that fool you, he's exceptionally intelligent and a quick learner, and is a fully sapient creature. His native speech is an incompressible (and sometimes barely audible) set of clicks, chirps, growls and such.

The drake is awkward moving on land, moving slowly due to his shorter back legs. He has to hold himself on all fours due to his lanky nature and is only able to stand tall on two legs with much difficulty for a very short period of time. However, in the ocean he's at home, using his long rudder like tail to propel himself quickly through the water and making turns on a dime due to his flexibility and webbed paws. He can hold his breath for as long as 45 minutes at times while swimming!

His favourite food are fish, tuna being his preferred. He tends to trick fish into approaching him by using his glowing patterns as lures and snatching them when they get close. That being said, he is quite fond of sea life and his home atoll. He would not take kindly to any destruction of it.

Other details:
-Can glow at will or depending with mood from his bioluminescent cyan markings.
-In addition to his sea diet, he adores land food, with it being cooked and actually prepared. He especially is enamoured with cotton candy, since it is such a strange and fun concept to him.
-His pupils are mostly impossible to see, his eyes appearing white. They tend to move much like a superhero mask in comics do (think Deadpool or Robin).
-His swimming style is akin to a crocodile crossed with an otter. His walking style is just ridiculous.
-He's not cold blooded, and is able to maintain a somewhat warm body temperature.
-The fins along his limbs and spine are quite flexible, so they can fold over. His back fins can move to his emotional state.
-His species was thought to have been more or less a myth. Lantis was discovered after an incident during a storm...his home and he himself are considered protected status due to his rarity.
-He will never shut up about fish.
