What I usually do to make Banner images is to Screenshot my Page, and draw in that specific size instead. My current banner is 1650 width x 250 height in pixels.

Like Uluri said, the "optimum" banner image size is 1650x250 pixels. (You can see this on the page where you set the banner, https://www.weasyl.com/manage/banner ). This image is 1650x500, so it's getting scaled down by 50% on both dimensions, to make it about 825x250.

The simplest thing is to make a version of this image cropped to 1650x250 and set that as your banner. The problem with doing that is that if you include the whole lynx, you'll end up cutting off the tops of the trees and the aurora. On the other hand, some people's banners are like that already - "zoomed in too far" - so it might look better than it sounds like it would.

You can make it a little better if you scale it down, yourself, to 825x250, and then make a new 1650x250 image, and paste the scaled-down image into the center of the new one. Make the "blank" space on either side of the image either transparent, or use the color picker to set it to the same color as Weasyl's background. It will still take up only half your banner space that way, but it will be centered, which might look a little better.

I do have a different version of this image which is 1650x250, and that's the one I've tried setting as my banner. It seems it still gets scaled down. I even tried reusing my old banner (which was also the correct size and used to show up correctly), and that one also gets scaled down now. I will try the solution you suggested, it seems like the best bet right now. Thanks!

Dunno if it helps any, but I also just discovered that your browser has to be pretty wide before a 1650x250 banner will display unscaled. My whole screen is 1920x1080 but I don't usually run my browser that big. When I first checked your current banner image, with my browser at the width I usually use, the banner was scaled down to 1435x217 for display. If I make my browser wider, the image scales up, until I get the browser to about 1700 pixels wide... then the banner displays at 1650x250, without scaling.

When it's scaling due to a narrow browser window, it does seem to scale both dimensions, so the image shouldn't be distorted... just smaller.
