This is Barrow's alternate persona, the dragonian, a primitive dragon taur-like race living in a time that's much more advanced than they are. The bird is a red-tailed hawk named Skobek.

I'm aware Skobek looks thoroughly screwed up, but the focus was more on Barrow than the bird.

And yes, Barrow is purple.
