On October 5, 1947, singer Brian Johnson is born. Johnson, born in Dunston, England, rose to prominence as a rock musician as one of the founding members of the band Geordie. However, it has been his time as the lead singer for AC/DC for which Johnson is best known. Founded by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young in Australia, AC/DC was already an international sensation when tragedy struck the band. Then-lead singer Bon Scott was found dead on the morning of February 18, 1980, from pulmonary aspiration with the official cause of death listed as acute alcohol poisoning. Recalling Scott's appreciation of Johnson's performance with Geordie, the remaining members of the band contacted him and, just a few days after his audition, hired Johnson as the lead singer for the band. That same year the band released Back in Black, their first new album with Johnson. Brian Johnson remained as the lead singer for AC/DC until 2016 when he left the band during the Rock or Bust tour due to his hearing. He had sustained an injury to his eardrums at a race and the noise of performing with the band put him at risk of losing his hearing entirely.

Brian Johnson is also a car enthusiast and participates in car races. He is also the host of a couple of television programs focused on music and cars. Johnson currently lives with his second wife, Brenda, in Sarasota, Florida.
