The FX-05 Xiuhcoatl is a Mexican designed, built, and issued assault rifle. Though it may physically resemble the German HK G36, enough so that HK engineers examined the rifle in search of possible patent infringements, the FX-05 is a completely different design. The FX-05 is expected to completely replace the HK G3 in Mexican service within the next few years.
