So, Reza has an inner demon or "shade" that constantly nags at his mind and causes him to have horrible nightmares.
His story is still a huge WIP, but basically Reza was dating someone who only "loved" him because she heard his family had something really valuable. She, of course, wanted it and killed Reza's family to get to it. When he found out she was the one who did it, she tried to kill Reza. The shade prevented his death and now lingers forever.
