Hyde Clean Ref Sheet by SidFishes

Hyde Clean Ref Sheet

SidFishes

Naughty ref over here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14304851/

Finished up the move back to Ohio and have got some time to finally wrap up this ref for my new sona/project. Most of my time was spent working on a name for this dude. For someone who hates doing ref sheets, I do lots of them.

Hyde is one of the creatures that lives in my head-canon monster-verse thing. He's a stitch-fiend, one of the many types that live in the world and I have a few notes about them for species nerds like me. They're a closed species, naturally.

Between 4 and 6 feet in height. Bipedal. Coats come in a range of colors, but are stitched together from the coats of other monsters. These stitched seams are usually visisble where limbs join, hence part of their name. These recycled furs are preserved through mysterious means, and the flesh appears living--if cut they will experience pain and bleed. There's no consistent pattern to blood color, as though whatever is making them is making it up as they go based on what's available. More serious injuries can be managed by sewing a cloth patch on top of the wound and then removing it at a later time. Blood loss seems to be the biggest concern for well being since even damaged organs can regrow provided the blood loss was managed quickly. Unusual numbers of ears, eyes, mouths, and heads in general are common. They have a few uniform traits that mark them uniquely as stitch fiends, however. Their eyes glow as long as they are animate and prominently down their front torso is ALWAYS a large zipper that can be opened to expose a mix of living tissue and plush organs. Strangely, this is not painful in anyway, and they can in fact touch and manipulate their insides with no distress. Organs are wet and slimey, but not bloody. As long as they aren't bleeding they feel no pain. Often they will use their body cavity to store important, useful or sentimental things, even indefinitely if they so choose.

Occasionally they wear clothes for personal style, but it's usually something that would be practical to the type of work they do, like a blacksmith's apron. Culturally they don't have any qualms with nudity.

Very, very rarely, clumps of 10 to 20 of them can be found in the fire woods at the edge of the cemetery. They're very clannish and don't welcome many outsiders into their inner circles, since in the past it has led to their destruction and their dwindling numbers at the hands of hostile monsters. There are no family structures within groups since they do no reproduce on their own. There is only a powerful "tribe" mentality bonding a group of individuals. Tribes come about from a "batch" of stitch fiends being made usually with similar colors and patterns in their coats. They're deeply reverent and worship the Stitcher who made each and every one of them, but who in recent times appears to have abandoned their creations. Not all stitch fiends are attached to a tribe.

One-offs are rarely made, seemingly at random, and are unable to join an established group. They usually have to make their own way in the world. Often there's an odd feature with these individuals, as if the creator was experimenting with different ways of making them, but clearly didn't like the end result enough to make any more of them.

It's uncommon to run into one in the major cities, and there are a lot of rumors and misinformation surrounding them being grave robbers. This arose because tribes of stitch fiends raid freshly dug graves to retrieve parts to give to their diety in the hopes that more stitch fiends can be made. There is some social stigma in some circles that one must be a deviant to be caught associating with them.

Individuals determine their own gender. External genitalia is sometimes present, although a wide range of diversity exists with this as with their other features. Some, such as in Hyde's case, are able to alter their external genitalia to suit their mood by sewing alterations.

Hyde is exceptionally shy and reserved around strangers. His job as a grave digger isn't as straight forward as it sounds, since burying the deceased is only half his job. Most of his time is occupied with fielding common complaints from the deceased. The unrested tend to make his life rather challenging. Besides that he manages the local population of Rot in his graveyard, being immune to the infection himself.

Future naught pics of this character can be found over at   sidfishesafterdark while everything else will end up over here.
