Tomcat's Bite... by ShindenWolf

Tomcat's Bite...

ShindenWolf

I've had this one awhile.....jets give me so many problems when drawing, hence why I dont draw them often, but I'd really wanted to give this one a go.

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was and always will be one of my top favorite fighter aircraft. When I was a kid, it was the aircraft I grew up wanting to fly. I honestly never thought at the time it would be retired before I got out of high school (2006. damn Hornet....). But during its time in service, the Tomcat earned itself quite a reputation. It was designed with one thing in mind....kill other aircraft and missiles before they could get anywhere near the carrier. With its massive AWG-9 radar and AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, the Tomcat could reach out and touch an enemy well over 100 miles away. A number of F-14s were sold to the Iranian Air Force before the 1979 revolution, and contrary to what has been said, scored an astounding number of kills (upwards of 160) for only 3 losses during the Iran-Iraq war. It got to the point that when Iraqi pilots would detect the signature radar signals from the F-14's radar, they would turn and run for their lives. Plain and simple, the F-14 was a monster of an airplane heh. Its a shame shes gone.

Anywho, Shinden and Jen acting as his RIO (Radar Intercept Officer) seem to have gotten themselves in quite a furball. One Mirage splashed....one to go.

Was my favorite airplane as a kid too, the shifting wings was just the coolest as a kid. Sometimes I wonder if they just retrofitted newer electronics packages and weapons if the other jets would be equal to or better and significantly cheaper than things like the F35.

This is beautiful. I can't seem to come close to drawing things like this so well.

    Nicely done!

This appears to be in VF-1 WolfPack markings, am I correct?
