You're on your way! I see you have a general idea of shape and anatomy. I'd suggest practicing some animal forms from life, (photos or a sketch book at the zoo.)

The bird looks great, and this is rather well composed. You've got a good grasp on shading, and I forsee some great things if you work hard on that. One thing that does stand out is that the cat's arms are not the even, the left arm seems to be much longer, especially in the upper portion (which is typically shorter in felines)
