I wasn't going to do anything with this because I don't think too highly of the original outline-it was one of the first illustrations I did a few days ago of people almost ever. But I have these amazing Prismacolor markers that I wanted to use so this outline was my guinea pig to test out these markers, and obviously I fell in love with them because I didn't anticipate turning this piece into an actual completed work, but alas!
I wanted to combine the real world Maleficent in the most recent movie with the clothing and coloring of the Disney movie from the 1950s. I wasn't really meaning for her to look exactly like Angelina Jolie but inevitably it might resemble her to a certain extent because obviously I needed a reference. I think I like Maleficent's colors from the Disney movie a bit better but I'm biased haha!
Done in Micron pen, Prismacolor markers and very little colored pencil on sketchbook paper.
