A commission I made all the way back in January 2020 and like many things forgot to post immediately.
Don't remember much where I was at back then, though I'll probably refer to anything before march 2020 as [old].

What I do remember about this is how I felt like I needed to one up the last background I did for him.
I don't remember if I thought I did but now I definitely like the first one best when I look at both again ( https://www.deviantart.com/nsyse/art/Sky-Pirate-Lyze-791487011 ). It's too ambitious but it gets lost in details when there's broader picture issues.
Mainly the perspective is weird, didn't jump out to me but now it does. I like individual elements a lot but the character, tree and towers are on wildly different perspective points. Still wanna post it for 2 reasons : 
1. I try to post everything I do. If I completed something for you I didn't post let me know I likely forgot to or have it on my short backlog. I often draw late night so I rarely write up descriptions to post right after.
2. More importantly beyond technical issues I still like it a lot.
it's one of the rare pieces I made with a storytelling intent that both came from me and that I still like a lot.

More and more I realise I really appreciate and value visual art that tells a story over technical prowess. Kind of frustrating because I've not very actively tried to tell many stories apart from DnD years ago. I often think I'm missing an ingredient to the confidence and self discipline it takes to get projects going and getting done. I'm not not sad but I wish I could do more and eventually become self employed.
