Working as Caravan Guard is both dangerous and dull. This is the first thing Thramista Voon learned when she took this job and left the Digged Cities and the canyon villages of the North Mountains. The second thing she learned is that very few people are trained to defend against brass knuckes.

The attack happened between jobs, when she walked alone between cities, and went inside Pine Forest. "Big mistake, but I learned my lesson: Never go alone to the woods. There are wolves there."

Gorak the Troath Cutter learned something else that night: Big and strong does not mean slow and clumsy. Hard not to, after you're forced to change your name to Gorak the Jawless...

Here it is, finally! This is - I hope - the first of a series. If I can make the time. For now, I'm enjoying the moment.
