Star Cross is a young Lunar Guard. Idealistic and headstrong, her focus tends to be on how things should be rather than on how they are. This has on occasion led to miscalculations on her part, which are often followed by exhaustive efforts to put things right.

She has been taken under the metaphorical wing of one of the Solar Guard. She and the unicorn have something resembling a father-daughter relationship and as she lacks a parental figure among the Thestrals, the relationship works out for both of them. The majority of their family time is during either dawn or dusk, since the two have opposing sleep patterns. Long Shot, for his part, dotes on Star and though she struggles to show it sometimes, she returns the sentiment.
