Been working on this for about 3 days straight! Had the idea in my head for a while and decided to get it out before I lost it. Side note. I was just not capable of drawing his beard for some reason... so i decided to give him a shave for this :D Also, I made Rin a humanoid rather than a full fledged beastkin fox. Primarily because I don't like drawing fox/wolves/huskies/etc. and Ruthgo is not sexually attracted to most anthros, the only exception probably being dragons. So I made her a shape shifter. She will have a full fox form but will usually be seen like this.
Anyways..

Ruthgo here is in a bit of an awkward situation. A bit of an unrequited love triangle type situation. Rin, the fox girl on the left was once lovers with Ruthgo. It had been a secret affair that had started casual but became something deeper. Ruthgo had wanted more, but Rin was already involved with another man, and turning on him could have dire consequences. And it did. The two were caught and things went foul, resulting in the loss of Ruthgo's right hand and left foot. When he recovered enough, he disappeared without a word.

Five years later, during a terrible snowstorm, he found Kiva, a young lynx girl on the brink of freezing to death. Despite his fondness for solitude, he took her in. Turns out the young girl was a runaway. A bastard child and an abomination hated by her late mother's husband, she endured years of abuse and finally could take it no more. Her escape was not well planned. But fortunately for her, the village was not far from Ruthgo's secluded home.

After learning about her life, Ruthgo felt that taking her home would be a pointless and cruel endeavor. Going against all his desires, he decided his clan would be the best place for one such as herself. As soon as the storm cleared up, he would take her to his old home where he was loathed by all.

It took a few months for the weather to clear up enough for travel. During that time, the two cohabited carefully. It was a small place that offered little privacy. It took all of Ruthgo's will power to keep himself in check. He refused to revert back to his old ways. Kiva did not make it easy. It was clear she was not raised with much care for modesty, a disturbing fact in hindsight.

Kiva was a very friendly, bubbly girl that loved to sing and dance. She enjoyed teasing Ruthgo in a plethora of ways. Hiding his belongings, making a mess of the makeshift kitchen, playing keep away with his prosthetic foot, the list goes on. She was an ornery shit to say the least. But Ruthgo couldn't help but grow fond of her.

She was also downright beautiful. And she didn't care that Ruthgo was a big "menacing" orc. She didn't care that he was stubborn and grumpy. She was determined to make him smile.

No one was expecting Ruthgo to show up out of the blue, let alone with a girl. In fact, most of them thought he was dead. Although he had planned on dropping Kiva off and leaving, she convinced him to stay a while.

It was as he expected. Most people avoided him like the plague and whispered behind his back, just loud enough for him to know they were talking about him. Others outright confronted him, attempting to taunt him. Five years ago he would have snapped instantly. But the years of quiet contemplation had changed him. Although visibly frustrated, he kept his calm.

Rin watched him from afar. She wanted nothing more than to be held in his arms again. She had missed him dearly. During the five years he was gone, she had left her lover Garth, regretting that she had not done it sooner. He had spread lies that Ruthgo had been forcing her to bed him, threatening her with violence if she sought help. It wasn't a hard story to believe. Ruthgo had not been known for his kindness. But she came to know a different man in the time they spent together. Behind his rough exterior was a gentle man that had bottled up years of pain.

As time went by, his feelings for Kiva grew. Despite having her own bed, and often having a man around her arm, she would spend the night with Ruthgo, often held in his arms. Strictly platonic. He was like a much older brother to her. And it drove him mad. He was jealous without even knowing it, oddly angered seeing her flirt with other men. He became increasingly protective of her.

One night, one of the younger lads became a little too drunk and a little too bold. He attempted to woo Kiva, with no success. Her rejection angered him. He grabbed her arm, yanking her aggressively and began to grope and fondle her body. Ruthgo witnessed it let go of his resolve. He grabbed the lad by his hair, turned him around and punched him square in the mouth with his metal fist, completely breaking his jaw and busting his teeth. A younger Ruthgo would have beat him to death. Had the man gone further, he would have. But this sufficed.

It became a new problem however. Men that were interested in Kiva were angered by Ruthgo's protective behavior. The taunting became worse. Kiva was annoyed that she couldn't keep a boyfriend because they feared him. All the while, Rin was jealous of Kiva. It was obvious to everyone BUT Kiva that Ruthgo had feelings for her.

Down the road, Ruthgo will take both of them as lovers. At this point in time, he somewhat resents Rin for not fighting to prove his innocence. But he will forgive her and let her back into his life. Kiva will initially reject him after he confides his feelings for her. Primarily for his age and imperfect body. She is young and stupid, roughly 18 here. After feeling her rejection, Rin is able to convince him to give her another chance. Kiva doesn't realize her mistake until she is knocked up and the only man that is willing to take care of her is gone.

So yeah, a little bit about their little "love triangle" ^_^
