The Kansas City Zoo is home to a pair of very beautiful Lappet-faced Vultures here. These guys are huge birds! These guys have a huge wingspan of 8-10 feet. The bald featherless heads they have are there to keep gunk from meals from getting stuck and it allows the germs and bacteria to be killed.

The Zoo has these guys on display in the African Exhibit during the Summer Months and they tend to keep these guys in during the Winter. The picture does not do these guys justice as they are huge birds and it's pretty awesome to see em.
