The Stare From a Hooked Beak

sawblade5

When I made a trip to St. Louis in February I went north of there to Grafton, IL along the Great River Road. I saw tons of American Bald Eagles. This is a 4th year juvenile American Bald Eagle. I was able to tell it was such from the black marks behind the eye (not visible in this photo but from others I took of him) and an off color beak. But he is mostly white on top and have yellow feet. This guy was aware of me and really didn't think nothing of it. I don't think he was thinking I was nom noms for him to eat for lunch. This guy was rather calm and he pretty much stay put even after I left the area.

This area draws alot of bald eagles during the Winter months. Due to the confluences of 3 major rivers; The Mississippi, The Illinois, and the Missouri Rivers. All that area makes it good Winter fishing for the eagles. In this area in the Winter mornings you almost have to be blind folded to not spot any of these guys as they're everywhere here.
