Valeford the Osprey -- 2013

SavageTurtleStudios

Here's the final collage of our most recently completed suit! This is Valeford, the osprey. c:

This costume features a lot of new things:

  • the wing style is based off of our commissioner's ref sheet
  • this is our first attempt at a "soft beak," meaning it is sculpted from foam and covered in minky fabric (unlike our owl beaks, which are sculpted resin that is painted and sealed).
  • the head actually has a zipper in the back of the head to allow the user (who wears glasses) to more easily slip the head on and off.
  • this is the first time we've used an eye design that was designed by the commissioner himself, hence the style difference from our usual eyes.
  • his feet are like his beak and are covered in minky fabric rather than fleece or fur. He also has "soft claws" that are stuffed and made of vinyl.

This was very fun to work on, as we do love our feathery friends! We hope you guys like him. :D

Note: We are currently populating our new gallery here at Weasyl with our previous works. As such, you will be seeing older work which may not represent our current style or skill level.

That is the cutest. Bird suits are hard to make look good, but this one's great! I love the tiny wings.
