Years of only having heard about Kamchasser's Ashward on the surface above couldn't have prepared her for seeing it in person for the first time. The valley was a small pocket of grasses, rolling hills, wild flowers, and lakes, surrounded by towering rock formations that kept the soot from the nearby cinder cones at bay. Kibal returned to the ruins, eager to discover more, but between long days at the forge the surface would become her sanctuary.
