Another story of Lizard Skin, that is an incarnation of Silk, but with a furless and ugly body (courtesy of Rughelia), a life she was forced live to give up some of her haughtiness.

Lizard is traveling south, her Mistress has sent her to a friendly tribe where her herbalist skills are required. Spending the night in a small town on the way, she receives the visit of a very distressed chamois doula. One of the region Master's wives has given birth to an albino kid. Albinos often have hearing and eyesight issues, and doulas are required to leave them in the wild, to be disposed by beasts (there's wild fauna in this world, reptiles and therapsids mostly).
But the kid is perfect, and beautiful and she really can't do this, she heard of Lizard Skin's skills, can she help him? Or does she knows someone that could avoid him that terrible destiny?

There's nothing an herbalist priestess can do agains genetical features, but Lizard knows someone. Theres a monk, an old friend, that already has an albino son. Maybe he will be happy to keep the unfortunate child, that's what she hopes. It will be a couple of days deviation, and she'll have to justify herself and make up a story for the Mistress, but she's good at making up stories.

The ibex mother can barely walk, but she wants to say her kid the last goodbye. She's devastated, because she really wanted that child. It's her first. But her will and her life, outside of her wife role, means nothing. Once again, Lizard thinks that being ugly and crippled it's not the worst destiny an animal can get. Balancing the enormous, compared to her cat frame, baby, and hoping they both won't tumble on the ground, she leaves the mother to her destiny. Maybe someday she'll be able to break free from her concubine life someway, but that's her destiny and they'll probably never meet again.

Many years after, the kid became a monk himself, of great power, but that's another story.
