This is my part of an art trade I had with this amazing artist: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/eastwoodloveuniverse
She did a HUGE chibi badge of my fursona in her red sari outfit. I loved it so much, and she says she loved my part as well ;w;
If anyone wants to buy a cheap reference sheet from my, similar to this, please comment/message me anywhere. x3
I am 21 so I can say I am old enough xP I am not quite sure what you are trying to say. I not always go for a toony style in reffs, it depends on the character. I've done realism and toony. I have big trouble with anatomy (I see it well in my head, I just can't quite mange to make it look good when I draw it myself)
Here's an example of a more realistic body (head still toony, considering making a very realistic shark wouldn't look very feminine: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16228586/ )

Assuming you are old enough to do so, might I suggest going to some life drawing opportunities in your local area? Art centers, groups and colleges are a good place to look for them. I can't help but feel like I'm seeing a bit of conflict between what you intuit should be there and what the cartoon style says should be there.
In general, I see a lot of young artists trying to emulate a certain look when they would greatly benefit from starting with the real thing for a reference and finding the art style within them.
