Art Exercise, Day 5; Three's a Company:
(daily art exercise mentioned and first 3 here: http://stickypawz.livejournal.com/185027.html),

The daily exercise for today is one that failed... When the timer sounded, the image was still in the initial stages of being blocked in. It was far from attractive to look upon, and unfinished. So, what to do? Throw the timer out, and continue to work for another hour and a half.

I have no self discipline... If I keep doing this I will start calling these Studies instead of exercises. I like how this one came out though. One reason this one took so much longer is that I chose multiple subjects, and the main subject has a complex color shift in the skin (Dark Reds to Bright Reds, to Yellow Green),with 3 light sources (Lamp, Window, and Reflected light). If it had just been the Apple, it would have taken far less time.

This one was done with a 7 color palette (with Alizarain Crimson AND Cadmium Red in addition a to the others.), on an 8” x 10” Masonite Board.
